In Loving Memory of Mark Slockbower
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our father, Mark Slockbower, who passed away on September 13, 2025, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Mark was born and raised in Morristown, New Jersey. From a young age, he was outgoing and full of life, always enjoying the company of others. Mark filled his days playing and watching sports.
Mark dedicated much of his life to serving his community. He volunteered with the Morristown Fire Department and worked for the United States Postal Service before graduating from the Police Academy and beginning a career with the Morristown Police Department. As a dedicated officer, Mark worked on many important cases as part of the Detective Bureau and retired with pride as a Detective Sergeant.
After retiring from the force, Mark continued to stay active, working in security with Allied Barton Security. He found great joy in traveling and living in warmer climates like Virginia, Florida, and ultimately, settled in Delaware to be near family—his final home. Mark was an avid New York Giants fan, a lover of dining out at his favorite Italian and Mexican restaurants, and a gracious host who treasured time spent with family and friends. Mark was known for being the life of the party, his jokes, unmistakable laugh and big smile lighting up every room.
Even in the face of Alzheimer’s, Mark’s love for his family never faded. His home was filled with cherished photos of his children and grandchildren. Their smiling faces and school pictures brought him joy and were a source of connection and admiration for the many dedicated caregivers and nursing staff who supported him.
Mark is survived by his four loving children: Dana & Joseph LaSalvia, Jeffrey & Jennifer Slockbower, Eric & Jacquelyn Slockbower, and Amanda & Christopher Riley. He also leaves behind his cherished eight grandchildren: Thomas & Ryan LaSalvia, Logan & Cade Slockbower, Caroline & Lou Slockbower, and Jack & Hudson Riley. He is also survived by his devoted sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and John Schoberl. Mark was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Barbara Slockbower.
A service will be held at Doyle Funeral Home, Morristown NJ at 10:00am on Monday September 29th to honor Mark’s memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Mark’s memory to the Morristown Police Department and Cure Alzheimer’s Fund.

Rest in peace, Dad. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered by so many lives you touched. These 8 grandkids were so sweet hanging together despite not seeing each other very often— you would have been proud and loved having them all laughing.
So grateful for all the family and friend support- food drop offs, bouquets of flowers and delicious treats that have been arriving at our door all week. Lots of good comfort food and beautiful flowers surrounding our home.
