Mohonk Preserve

The perfect fall day trip into New Paltz! We started off with a 5.5 mile hike on the Duck Pond Trail which took us about 2 1/2 hours.

Duck Pond Loop
This hike features beautiful farm fields and majestic views of the Shawangunk Ridge along the route to historic Duck Pond. Duck Pond was created in 1908 as part of the formal entrance to the Mohonk Mountain House. It later served as a breeding ground for bass and rainbow trout. By the 1940s, Duck Pond became a popular stopping point for nature study, hikers and photographers looking for a scenic view.

After our hike, we went to the Brooklyn Cider House & Pumpkin Farm.

They had a brewery with homemade cider beers and IPAs and some awesome homemade pizzas and homemade cider donuts. On the farm side, they had a pumpkin patch and huge apple orchids. The kids loved apple picking ( with not much to pick from since we are pretty late in the season) and skippy rocks on the water! While we ALL enjoyed eating some warm donuts and  drinks while listening to the band around our very own firepit.

We ended our day at P&G's Pub with some delicious apps and dinner! And a big thanks to Uncle Greg and Aunt Krystal who picked up our tab! So not necessary!  Thanks for all the great recommendations of Aunt Krystal, we had the perfect Fall day!
