New Orleans Trip Day 1

For our 10 year Anniversary,  we decided to visit with Uncle Jeff + family and take a trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras with the boys!

First stop,  our hotel the Internationals Continental New Orleans right in the heart of the parade route but off the beaten path of Bourbon Street.

Next step, lunch at Borgne. The kids and I kept to our comfort zone- Ceasar salad and the kids menu. Dad and Uncle Jeff had gumbo amd broiled oysters!

After walking around the city, we went back to get parade ready....

Our first experience with Mardi Gras parades in the city did not disappoint!

We saw 2 parades, Krew of Nyx and the Krew of Druids. The fancy cars, cheerleaders, marching bands, huge floats, dancers and music was amazing. The boys got beads, stuffed animals, glow in the dark footballs, plastic swords, flags, amd gold coins.

Thanks to Uncle Jeff for reserving seats for us in the IHC hotel grand stands, so we had a place to sit and watch the parade right outside our hotel and could go in and out to use the bathroom all night.

Ryan put himself to bed around 9:45 ( 10:45 EST), while Thomas, Uncle Jeff and I stayed up till 10:45 ( 11:45 EST)... almost making it to the end of the parade!

Great start to our vacation!
